The Cheshire Go Tournament is being held again this year at Frodsham Community Centre alongside the Chess Tournament.
The format of the Go event is designed to cater for both strong and weaker players, part of a BGA strategy to provide events suitable for lower graded players. Recent Cheshire Go Tournaments were in the same format.
The top eight graded/rated players may play in a three-round Swiss-style group to determine the Cheshire Open Go Champion. Other players will play in a five-round rapid play handicapped Swiss-style group to determine the Cheshire Rapid Go Handicap Champion. There will also be a continuous 10x10 tournament. It is also possible to enter the Chess Tournament to play on Friday night and on Sunday.
Top group 60 minutes, with overtime of 40 in 5 minutes.
Handicap group 30 minutes, with overtime of 40 in 5 minutes.
Top group 1st and 2nd
Handicap 1st and others with 4 wins (youth and beginner prizes at organiser’s discretion)
10x10: Most wins/Best percentage (subject to minimum)
| Adults | £8 |

If you are British but not a BGA member and not at your first tournament add £3 (Concessions add £2).
There is no late entry fee but entrants after 9th February should bring Go set and/or clock in case of shortage.
Coffee, tea, pop and light snacks will be available for purchase.
Frodsham station is on the line between Manchester and North Wales, half way between Warrington and Chester (13 minutes). Turn right at the bottom of the station approach, turn right again and bear east along the High Street for 500m and turn right into Fluin Lane.
Frodsham can be reached via the M56. Leave at Junction 12, following signs to the A56 and continue on into Frodsham. Fluin Lane is the B5152 and runs south from the A56, immediately left after a footbridge over the road. There are signs to the Community Centre, which is on the right. There is a large free car park.
A list of nearby accommodation is available on request.
