Cheshire Tournament 1984

The 1st Cheshire Tournament was held on 28th January 1984 at the Oakley Centre, part of the Victoria Community Centre in Crewe, organised by Brian Timmins.

The trophy was a Gostelow Goban sponsored by NMW Computers Ltd, which later became the Shrewsbury Trophy.

Choi Chee-Kul (5 dan) from Manchester was the first winner. Other prizes went to Andy Benyon (2 kyu Manchester), Stuart Hinsley (4 kyu Coventry) and Peter Collins (20 kyu Malvern). Attendance was 32. Andy Benyon also won a Candidates Place.
