Nottingham Tournament 1985

The 3rd Nottingham Tournament was held on Saturday 9th November 1985 in the Ballroom of the Portland Building.

Clive Wright was the organiser collecting entries at £3. He was assisted by former club member Tony Atkins. The overtime had reduced to 10 seconds byoyomi, with 45 minutes main time. The number attending increased to 48.

The overall winner was a Korean who was at Nottingham for a couple of years, J-Y. Lee (5 dan), who won all 4 games. A. Cornah (2 kyu Sheffield) also did well achieving 3.5 wins. Other prize winners were with 3/4 were Richard Granville (3 dan Malvern), Sam Perlo-Freeman (1 kyu Lyme Regis), C. Wright (3 kyu), I. Docherty (9 kyu), T. Roberts (10 kyu), Mark Skinner (11 kyu), R. Taillefer (13 kyu), D. Gilmore (15 kyu), M. Gibbs (20 kyu) and R. Thearle (20 kyu). The Qualifiers were Mark Lorimer-Roberts (1 dan) and A. Cornah (2 kyu). Best team was Notts Forest.
